OSP Engineer

Summary

The OSP Engineer will perform all necessary work to design aerial or buried telecommunications facilities in Client systems including but not limited to copper or fiber cable, poles, terminals, pedestals and hand holes.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design aerial or buried telecommunications facilities in Client systems including but not limited to copper or fiber cable, poles, terminals, pedestals and hand holes
  • Preplanning and review of design with Customer Management, schematics, and cut sheets
  • Obtain records and maps required to complete design from Customer systems
  • Identify cable counts and tabulation of labor and material associated with the design
  • Make entries in an approved mapping software system
  • Engineer and design a detailed/non-detailed Prism work location within a DA/CSA with a maximum loop length of 5000’.
  • Generate a Bill of Materials (BOM) and order required equipment as designed
  • Engineer and design aerial or pole telecommunications facilities including load calculation worksheets, pole/anchor/transfer activities (i.e. pole change out, damage repair).
  • Engineer and design a manhole detail for underground telecommunications facilities including but not limited to cables, ducts, racking and splice cases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred
  • Professional Engineering Certification a plus
  • Knowledge of OSP Engineering software, databases, mapping software systems
  • Ability to overlap-perform more than one function at a time while communicating with internal and external customers.
  • Required to maintain established productivity levels.
